Tesamorelin
Tesamorelin is a synthetic analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). In research models it binds pituitary GHRH receptors and stimulates the pulsatile release of endogenous growth hormone, which in turn raises circulating IGF-1. Because it acts upstream on the body's own secretory pathway rather than delivering growth hormone directly, it is widely used as a model compound to study the GHRH–GH–IGF-1 axis and the regulation of visceral adipose tissue.

Its GHRH-analog mechanism is distinct from administering growth hormone directly, which is why the scientific literature studying tesamorelin monitors IGF-1, glucose and fluid balance. Preclinical and clinical research has focused on reductions in visceral adipose tissue and associated changes in lipid markers; these findings come from defined study populations and the compound is supplied strictly for laboratory research.
